It’s time to let the secret out regarding what makes a motivational sales speaker tick. First off, it’s an incredible passion and desire to see people succeed. Nothing makes me feel worse than when I see a salesperson or an entire sales team struggling. I have a firm belief that if a person has a personality and can communicate, then they can sell. Second, it is my job to convince those I’m speaking to that their success lies not in what they’re selling, but in who they are. Third, I need to convince you that it’s not about you, it’s about your customer. Too many salespeople like to hear themselves talk. I believe we need to be quiet and let the customer be in control. Finally, you need to understand that until you are willing to become goal-driven and you take ownership in those goals, you’ll never be motivated.
Although I am not revealing all of my secrets, I’m also not trying to hide anything. In fact, I believe the best salespeople are totally open and willing to share about everything. They know that in the end, the customer will view them in a positive light. When it comes down to it, customers only want to do business with positive people.
