Whenever I’m speaking to a group of salespeople I always end up discussing the importance of what I call “sales leadership.”  The more I talk about it, the more I realize how your level of sales leadership drives your level of sales motivation and your level of sale motivation drives your sales leadership.  Leadership takes on a number of different forms, but it boils down to being responsible and accountable and doing it with integrity.   These same three traits make up the components of your sales motivation. This is why I’m a strong believer in saying your level of sales motivation and your level of sales leadership are very closely tied.

Challenge yourself to always be finding ways to demonstrate leadership with your customers. Do this by first allowing your personality to come through with the customer. Be who you are. The best way I’ve found to connect with others is by being comfortable with them, and the best way I do that is by allowing my personality to come through.  Second, I ask myself with regard to each customer, “How can I help them succeed in achieving their goals?”  Show interest in them and their goals.  Leaders serve and the way you do this is by helping others achieve their goals, because what I’ve found in sales is when I help my customers achieve their goals, I end up achieving mine.

Since I’m talking about helping others achieve their goals, let me know how I can help you achieve your goals. Drop me an email or respond to this blog — either way, let me know!  mark@thesaleshunter.com
