We’ve all received stupid messages through Linkedin from people trying to sell us stuff.
The stupidity of the message is how they’re all feature driven and dealing with something you could care less about. It’s things like this that have people wondering if Linkedin is a viable sales tool.
Recently, I did a short webinar with Linkedin expert, Kurt Shaver, where we talked about this issue. Linkedin is a powerful sales tool not only for developing existing customers, but also for prospecting. I contend and Kurt agrees you can use Linkedin to develop new relationships, but it’s not by using the stupid message approach.
Prospecting with Linkedin begins by first having a profile others will find of value. Second is a level of engagement by you where it’s not about selling, but about sharing insights and building on existing conversations.
The beauty of Linkedin is it can be a source of learning and that is exactly what your goal needs to be — to learn about others.
Watch the below video. And here’s a secret — listen to what I share about prospecting by accessing HR recruiters. After we did the webinar live, this was the idea I got the most feedback about. It’s a proven strategy that I’ve used for years with clients, and the results are always positive.
