Sales Training Tip: Rarely is PowerPoint Appropriate

Do you wonder about how beneficial it really is to use PowerPoint during your sales presentation? I was recently asked this question. Below are my thoughts:

Rarely is PowerPoint appropriate. Far too many times, it merely serves as a distraction that prevents the customer and the salesperson from entering into a meaningful discussion. In my opinion, the only time it is important is when the customer is visually distracted. By using PowerPoint, you’re able to keep the customer’s attention focused on what is being presented. I’m thoroughly convinced that too many salespeople allow PowerPoint to drive their presentation, rather than having it support what is being said.
