The term Professional Selling Skills is commonly heard in our profession. Rarely, if ever, do you hear of Amateur Selling Skills, but it seems like the majority of salespeople practice them. I wish there was a test that salespeople had to pass in order to be able to say they have professional selling skills. Just because you collect a paycheck does not mean you know how to sell. It merely means you know how to talk and can take orders.
Those who practice using professional selling skills help people see opportunities they wouldn’t normally see and help them achieve a higher level of success. They do so in a professional manner, with integrity, honesty, and a high degree of passion and commitment. Because many salespeople are struggling in today’s economy, it can only mean there are more opportunities for the salesperson who is using professional selling skills to succeed.
