“Small goals deliver small results.”
We achieve what we set out to achieve, and more often than not, we set ourselves up for a tiny victory only because we fail to have the vision to see bigger things. I’ll use my own website as an example. Several years ago, we set out to upgrade it thinking that I’d be able to have a more productive way for those who know me to access my articles, etc. Only after we began upgrading the system and I began to see some results did I begin to realize the global impact the website could have. Three years ago, I got excited when people from 3 or 4 countries visited. That got me thinking and setting bigger goals. Today, it’s not unusual for my website to have traffic from more than 40 different countries. This traffic means I get inquiries from people and companies around the world and, as you can imagine, that has got me moving toward even bigger goals.
Take something you do well and think for a moment about what the impact would be if you could do it 2x, 5x, or even 10x what you’re doing today. What’s stopping you? What’s holding you back? Nothing should be. Are you allowing your thinking to be reshaped? Goal setting is really sales motivation. By allowing yourself to set bigger goals, you’ll be more motivated to achieve them.
