Sales Training Tip #204: Suggestive Selling by Confirming a Shipment

If you’re selling a product that has to ship to the customer, you have a perfect opportunity to suggestive sell. Contact the customer just prior to the shipment going out to let them know it’s on its way and then suggest another item that they may benefit from.

This is such a great idea for any company using customer service reps or others who have the opportunity to interact with customers on a regular basis.  These people may not feel comfortable cold-calling or selling complex items, but that shouldn’t stop them from selling “add-on” items.  It is one of those very simple ideas that you can use to increase sales by 2%.  More importantly, it’s probably one of the easiest and best ways to increase your numbers because it doesn’t require any additional selling expenses.
