Who came up with the phrase “selling in a tough economy”? Those words only serve to hurt a person’s sales motivation. I have a suggestion. Let’s change the phrase from “selling in a tough economy” to either “winning in a tough economy” or “selling big in a tough economy.”
Earlier this week, I was with a group of salespeople. As I went around the room asking them about their sales performance, I was amazed to hear how those who had success earlier in the year were still having success and those that were struggling had been for some time. In my opinion, it’s all about gaining momentum. Momentum is driven by your level of sales motivation, and that is driven by your attitude.
There are significant opportunities out there for any salesperson who is willing to go get them and does not allow the negative news around them to dampen their level of sales motivation.
